The popular song “All I want for Christmas is you”, is probably on the mind of many singles, but hopefully, you are on this site because you found your groom, your Mr Right. And since Christmas is around the corner, we hope you can say “What I have for Christmas is the perfect groom”. But what exactly is the perfect groom? Is he the one that first caught your eye? Is he the one that everyone talks about? The one that was always popular, has the dream job, the talents, the smarts, the money? Well, let us consider what the perfect groom might be!
He is meek but very strong
They say that true strength is having all the power but choosing not to use it. Ladies, is your man strong? Is he able to physically protect you? If he does not have all the muscles, does he have the courage? Does he, having all this power, have the meekness, patience and kindness he needs so that he will never use this power to hurt you?
He is wise and prudent
Whether he makes a lot of money or only a little, the important question is, does he act wisely with what he’s got? Is he wise in the use of his talents and the use of his possessions, or does he squander it all? Will he work wisely and honestly to make sure you are provided for or will he waste it away on some time-consuming self-indulging hobby? Will he put you first?
He is loving
Men are not that inclined to be emotional and generally don’t like sappy dramas, but that does not mean they cannot have a big soft heart. So how big is his heart? Will he love you with a self-sacrificial love that makes following him easy? Will he put you first and take care of you emotionally? Is he willing to make that promise before God to always love you and only you, that nothing will get in between you and your man?
He is forward-thinking
He thinks about the future carefully and then plans and executes accordingly. He has plans for the next 5 years, 10 years and more importantly, he has also thought about and planned for what will happen 150 years from now because he is eternally minded. He has thought about where he will be when he dies, and not only that, he has studied and found the answer to eternity!
He is a leader
He will be able to take charge and take the lead. Consulting with you of course, since you are a team, he will be taking the lead as well as the responsibility if the endeavour fails. He will protect you emotionally against those around you and will make sure everyone knows they first need to get through him before they will ever be able to get to you. What a blessing to know that you can hide behind your man, and let him carry the weight, as he leads you forward to the future you both dream about.
He is a picture of Christ
We can go on and on like this, but to keep things to the point, the perfect groom will be following the lead of Christ, who is the perfect Groom! All we have done so far is think about the characteristics of Christ and applied them to a potential groom. Think about it! Christ has sacrificially given himself for the world, but more specifically for his bride. He left the riches of heaven to suffer and die on the cross so that he could redeem his bride from sin and its punishment. He did this so that he could be YOUR perfect Groom.
He is love, he is merciful, he is patient, he is wise, he is prudent, he is all powerful and yet chooses to show love and sacrifice. He is truly strong. He cares for, protects, leads, provides and plans for his bride so that she can hide safely and securely in his arms.
